1/16 verses 1/50

I would like to be able to feature some construction and farm equipment in my layout. I have read past posts about different scales with autos and I know that they all look good depending on where they are placed. There are very few construction/farm models in 1/24. Most are either in 1/16 or 1/50. I am wondering if 1/50 is to small? Would a 1/16 scale tractor look good by a 1/24 scale truck? Give me some opinions.

Go with the 1/16 as 1/50 will be way too small. Just try to find smaller equipment farm equipment. This tractor is 1/16 or 1/18 and has a Bachmann figure on it -

Piko and Pola also make some farm equipment though most of it is Euro prototype like this tractor and wagon -

You can also find some cast resin stuff on eBay and stores that is more 1/24 scale

1/50 could actually work…depending on how you use it. You could model an entire farm…or any scene for that matter, on the edge of your layout, far away from the viewers. Like a perspective sorta thing. It’s done quite a bit. But, just comparing 1/50 to 1/24, Brian is correct. The difference is staggering. Have you tried other scales such as 1/20, 1/25, and 1/32? Most of these will be acceptable with G scale. Although some of the 1/32 stuff does get a little small.

Give tractor supply a look-see. They have ERTL stuff in various sizes. I’ve seen john Deer, Farmall, and Ford tractors in both 1:32 and 1:18.
