Jon, that is incredible! I know they are pricey, but looking at the detail, it would be worth it. I have two small children, so something that nice would be designated to a shelf under lock and key.
How does it do on the rails? It has so much detail. Congratulations, I hope it brings you plenty of enjoyment.

So Jon, do you think I can find one of these at K-Mart for under $25.00[?]

Very Very Nice ! [tup]

LOL, Tom!! Keep your fingers crossed for a “blow-out” sale!!![:D]

From the ad, and given the detail, I was impressed with the price - it looks so much better ‘in person’ - congratulations, Jon. I know which road to call when we need to dig something out on the JTC.

I would like one of those in HO scale… but the detail… WOW.

An imprssive piece of machinery! They did a great job with it.

Jon,

Nice! I sure was tempted to get one of those.

There are some shots of these shovels digging out the foundation for the Grand Central Terminal in the book I have on the same.

Need some heavy dump cars to go with it!

I noticed that ad too, and as others note it looks even better in “person.”

Does it work on 3-rail? I notice it’s 2-rail in the picture by all appearances.

Ya, is this technically “rolling stock”? The chain and sprocket drive mechanism…does it actually move the shovel or something when the car rolls? Even if it is just a static piece you could anchor one hell of an olde tyme construction zone diorama with that…Its a beauty.

I see a rivet missing down by the shovel…just kiddin’![;)][swg]

That is very impressive. Very nice!!

Yes, please do tell. What are its operational abilities. Is anthing motorized? CAn it couple and be pulled my 3rail stuff?

Mike S.

Yes it runs on the layout just fine, it just has to be pulled or pushed by a locomotive very slowly because of the chain drive. The operating features are boom swing left or right, boom up or down, shovel up or down. These functions are performed by inserting a “key” into the body and turning it. Also if you pull the string the tipper will drop.
