You’ll get no argument from me. If someone had to take over the AT&SF, glad it was the BN. Best of luck in your second decade!

Still, I wi***hey’d reconsider that splinter logo that goes by the name of “swoosh”…

BNSF…let’s hope it goes on for a long time!

The swoosh logo is neat, but if they had decided to keep the old one that would be okay too.

No no no…The merger was just a couple of years…a few…Oh s*** your right it has been ten years. Time flys when…

Actuall date was 9/22/95. I worked for a shipper on the ATSF at merger time. By the time I changed careers three yrs later, the BN had forced their way of doing things on the rr and they were not for the better in terms of shipper-carrier relations.

[bday] Congrats on ten years.

Sometimes 10 years can seem interminable…oooops…did I say that out loud in a railroad forum[:O][;)]

You must be wrong[:0]! It can’t be 10 years since the BNSF merger. That would make me…AAARRRRGHHHH . It IS 10 years[B)]!

[bday] Happy b-day BNSF. I think that if a railroad were to take over the Santa Fe the BN is the right one…how this railroading world would be different if the SP-SF merger had gone through. Not to mention the fact that we’d be staring at kondrachome instead of the “swoosh”.

Kodachrome? Isn’t Kodachrome kind of like Daguerreotypes? He he he…

I like the old santa fe color better, specially when it gets dirty dusty and rusty. The orange makes the locomotives look like they are made of plastic

but Happy B-day!!!

I just realized that this marks the tenth birthday of BNSF, which is about the only railroad that was the product of a merger that happened since I was born! I did not know untill I got my last issue of trains that BNSF was only ten years old.

I realize this birthday makes you feel old espeefoamer, but it makes me realize how young I am. (It also reminds me of all the great railroads that I never got to see because I wasn’t around yet.)

I’m glad that the BN merged with the ATSF instead of the SP, although I was surprised that the UP took over for the SP a year later, I always felt that the SP was more part of the UP than the ATSF, wasn’t the SP and ATSF two of the largest railroad companies in the Southwest?

The BNSF/ATSF Merger happend on September 22,1995. Which makes September 22,2005 10 Years of the BNSF Railway. This up coming Thursday. Allan.

BNSFrailway.

BN + SF made the best fit, but I’d rather that Santa Fe had taken over the BN!

That being said, I hate the new logo, and I wi***hey’d reconsider their stupid new name and come up with something that gives it a sense of identity, not a bunch of initials strung together [banghead].

But, congrats to BNSF on ten years! [bday]

I thought the UP took over the SP in 95,96 or 97 I saw a picture of a train in New Orleans on railpictures.net and under the remarks it said ‘‘the last SP train’’ or something like that and it was in the mid to late 90’s?

anybody know when for sure

kevin

I finaly saw the new BNSF logo today. On a UP Stack Train. haha.
Allan.

Burlington Northern was my favorite railroad since I was six years old. ATSF became my second favorite railroad as a teenager. So when they merged, it was like two old friends getting married.

I was going to say it would be nice if Matt Rose introduced a series of Heritage locomotives like UP but considering how many patched and barely patched Cascade Green and Warbonnet locomotives you can still see out there, you really don’t need any. Though it would be nice to see some “Big Sky” or Loewy Green ES44DCs!

9/22/95-BN and ATSF merged, today still going strong and today is their 10th birthday

so once again [bday] BNSF

kevin

Has it been 10 years?? Time flies…[:D]
