11' by 9 1/2' HO track plan?

Just a friendly call for help here. I have an 11 foot by 9 1/2 foot basement room. One of the 11 foot sides has a 38 inch gap where the stairs come down. This gap starts 7 1/2 inches from the corner. I really like double track mainline continuous running, but I realize this is not a big space. Any suggestions?

"Gap’ as in, the stairs come INTO ths room, or ‘gap’ as in, this room is sort of under the stairs?
Either way, you’re in N scale, right? 11x9 is a good-size space to work with. You need to accurately map out the space, and then make few decisions - what sort of equipment you want to run, which then affects what radius curves you need to use, and so forth.

Your post doesn’t say whether the room is empty or not. My lay-out is a modified “E”, 9’X13’. I have the back of the E mounted against the long wall on L-girder, 1"x4" with foam board. The legs of the E can be varied for width depending on what you plan to use them for. I have the control panel on the inside edge of one leg so I can see/reach just about everything from there. The ends of the E legs are standing on 2x4’s, set back somewhat from teh corners to allow easy access. I hung all the wiring underneath on shower curtain rings.
