1870's railways

does anyone know where i can find railway info on the 1870’s. ie equipment size of boxcars, types of rolling stock?

I have some good period links on my blogroll. John White wrote three excellent books that cover that era in great detail - “The American Railroad Passenger Car,” “The American Railroad Freight Car,” and “A History of the American Locomotive, It’s Development, 1830-1880.” Taken together, one of the best sources going on rolling stock of that era (White used to be the curator of the Smithsonian’s railroad exhibit). You can find all of them used at Alibris.com.
