Sorry for asking such a simple question, but I’ve hit a wall here and can’t find what I’m looking for.
Specifically, I’m looking for colors and marking for the Bangor & Aroostoock, and the Maine Central for the 1930’s, and into WWII. I’m theming my new layout for the war years and, surprisingly, it’s gotten difficult for me to locate what I want.
I’ve found lots of images of pre-war rolling stock, but they seem to all be in post-war markings and colors, or post war markings and B&W images, or with post-war modifications, etc.
I understand how popular the '50’s and later periods are, and I respect that, but I’ve been wading through websites and libraries, and I’ve gotten to the point where I might as well ask for help here.

Thanks very much for the links. Ayuh…there’s some good shots mingled in there, but sadly, there’s very little (rolling stock-wise) from the 30’s, etc. Hopefully, I’ll run into someone who can fill in some of the blanks for me.
It’s kind of funny, but if I wanted to model anything post-war, I’d have more info than I could shake a stick at. I had decided on the theme for the layout before I started the design, but never dreamed that just finding details such as car colors and markings could be so challenging. Ah well, just another interesting part of a great hobby.
Also… it seems that there’s at least one image available for every station and whistle stop and yard on the BAR and MEC during the 1930’s, but rarely was there any traffic onsight when the picture(s) were taken. Go figure!

Yeah, I got a chance to look through the last two links I gave you after I posted them and I realized there wasn’t much there.
I did find this 1930’s era BAR boxcar that Atlas offers in N scale.
Here’s the correct logo that you could use to make decals if you need.
I see what you mean about a lack of info though. Perhaps an Amazon search for a book on the BAR would work. The MEC should be a little easier, but I’ll check that out tomorrow.
Modeling that era will bring you to the resin kits. Funaro & Camerlingo, Westerfield, WestShore Line and others. If you do a general search you can find them on the web.

Yup… thanks for the tips. I’d already seen and drooled over those kits, but alas, I’m apparently thick headed, as I’d decided to do this all in “N” scale. I’ve got an 8X2 layout space at present, although I’ve drawn it up to be expanded when the youngest finds her own place…
I would very much love to do the whole layout in “HO” scale but space prevents me, and since I’ve already got a goodly amount of Code 55 on hand I figured I keep at it with the little stuff. Maybe some day though… we can all dream!
I don’t mind the resin kits. I’ve built a number through the years for military clients. It’s not really more difficult than any other medium, just different. What great stuff is available, however!

I found this pic. It’s of a Maine Central Boxcar and a passenger car. The boxcar has a roof mounted brake wheel and Archbar trucks which were outlawed in 1928 or 29.
