1950's automobiles

I was very happy to see in one of the model railroad magazines a picture of the upcoming 1953 Ford station wagon being released by Classic Metal Works. June was specified as the release date.

I see their next vehicle to be released will be a a series of 1956 dodge cars. Some on-line model railroad vendors even have them on their websites.

I was impressed with their last offering, the 1950 Dodge cars which were very nicely finished.

I wonder if anyone knows what happened to the 1951 Ford cars that were supposed to be released by Atlas. Apparently there was a parting of ways between Atlas and the manufacturer. There had been a few pics of the pre-release models and they sure looked great.

I have been wondering myself what was happening with the Atlas Fords. I was keen to have a couple of their Police Cars. Woodland Scenics released a 1950 Ford Police car, but the single spinner was not included in the grill area leaving an open yawn effect. This model is no good to me in that state.

Bruce, is it not possible that you could perhaps fit a (modified) propeller hub from an aircraft–P-40; P-51, Spitfire, etc–into this (defective) grill area? All you would need would be the very tip of the propeller hub to get your “spinner.”

The WS Autoscenes vehicles are more generic than scale models. You will note in the product descriptions, no manufacturer is mentioned; just “Early 50s Sedan”; “Late 50s Pickup Truck” or something similar. The shape and painting suggest certain Ford or Chevy car models, but the detail of a licensed product like a MiniMetals diecast is not there (like the ‘missing’ grill spinner on the Ford). That being said, I think the WS Autoscenes can do a good job in setting a scene or activity that can be incorporated into a point of interest on a layout.
