2-6-6-4 EM1 in HO

The B & O had something like 30 of these million-pound locomotives hauling coal. The April, 2004 issue of Model Railroader (which just arrived today) shows a layout by Ed Lorance, with one of these monsters on it. Unfortunately, there is no indication of who the manufacturer of the model happens to be.

Does any manufacturer currently produce, intend to produce, produced in the past, etc…this locomotive?

Thanks!

Actually, the EM-1 is a 2-8-8-4. It has been produced in brass by Akane in the 60’s, Westside in the 70’s and Key in the 80’s. I believe there was a recent issue lately, but I’m not sure who produced it, maybe PSC. The Akane can be found at reasonable prices, but it won’t be as detailed as one of today’s locomotives. I believe there has been a problem with the drives deteriorating. The Westside and Key models are pricey. Hope this helps

[:I] I read the article, it said 2-8-8-4, so why did I type 2-6-6-4? I’m so-o-o-o embarassed. Thanks for the info. I’ll see if I can find them.
