A number of years back, (A seniors Moment),( can’t remember when), there was an article on converting an "O’’ gage switcher to a 2-8-0. Can anybody help me in remembering what issue of (I think it was in MR.?) Thanks. Willy3
I seem to recall such an article, written by Vic Roseman, concerning the conversion of an Rivarossi IHB 0-8-0 heavy switcher into a 2-8-0 road engine. Can’t pin it down better than that (it certainly was a while back - perhaps in the early 1990’s?) but Vic hasn’t written all that much in recent years so an author search should turn it up. Considering the small diameter of the switcher’s drivers, I’m not so sure it would be worth doing or look very prototypical.

Willy,
Following up on CNJ831’s hint, I did an Index of Magazines search using the author’s name:
Steam roster variety through kitbashing, Railroad Model Craftsman, January 1978, page 48 ( 0-8-0, AHM, IHC, KITBASH, “ROSEMAN, VIC”, ROSTER, STEAM, CONSTRUCTION, ENGINE, LOCOMOTIVE, O, RMC )
Checked my personal copy of that back issue. Think you will have to “eyeball” the article yourself to decide if it’s a project you want to tackle. RMC is supposed to have a photocopy service or you could request it from the NMRA’s Kalmbach Memorial Library.

Actually the drivers were prototypical for what he wanted to do. Most 8 coupled engines are in the 63" dia range. Many of the 2-8-0’s used by Eastern roads were in the 55-57" dia range, which is exactly what the 0-8-0 has.

Thanxs fellas U’ve been a great big help. Many thanx. Box Car Willy3
Hi Everyone,
Sorry to dig up such an old topic, but has anyone found any other articles about converting the Rivarossi O guage IHB 0-8-0 to a 2-8-0 or 2-8-2?
If so could anyone possible either scan them and send them to me via e-mail?
Many thanks in advance,
With Kind Regards,
Stephen.
