2 axle Flex-i-Coil sideframes

Does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes GOOD 2 axle flex-i-coil sideframes?

I’m talking about the kind that was used on some Canadian 4 axle units, GMD1’s, Geeps, etc…

I’m aware of the metal castings that were available from various places, and I have a few of them. They seem rather crude compared to what’s available today.

Ideas?

Athearn makes excellent plastic Flexi-Coil sideframes for their SW1500, but you have to have Athearn trucks if you want to use them. Athearn sideframes have pegs that push into holes in the sides of the trucks.

For the Life-Like SW9/1200, I don’t know. The sideframes on Life-Like GM switchers have wrap-around latches something like the Atlas RS-3, and I haven’t seen any Flexi-Coil type aftermarket sideframes that are designed to fit that type of truck. Kaslo Shops supposedly made sideframes to fit the Life-Like GM switchers, but I’ve never seen them.

CP Guy,

Aloco is right, Kaslo Shops had them. Central Hobbies in Vancouver,BC has a good stock of their stuff and you might want to contact them to see if they have them in stock. I’ve ordered from them before and they are great to deal with, prompt and courteous. Just do a google for Central Hobbies Vancouver and you’ll see their site.
