Wish I’d had my camera with me today (then I’d need to figure out how to post photos). Met a truck headed for our local lumber yard this AM, while driving the school bus. My guess is it was at least a 48’ trailer, as he had to go the wrong side of the traffic island to make the turn. It was a low flatbed, stacked somewhat higher than my bus all 2" blue foam. What a layout one could have built with all that, make a mistake, just toss it and start over.

Made me think of you folks in the “south of the foam insulation line” (wherever that is). A whole lot of you could give the stuff a try with just one load.

When hurricane Irene went through a couple of years ago, a lumber yard near where I used to live washed out. The strapped bundles of the stuff just floated off down the river. Always wished I could have caught a bundle of it.

Since it’s regularly going below 0 F nightly, guess we need it. However, from the sounds of the weather news some of you further south than the line where they don’t deliver it could use a load or two.

Yes, Richard, I feel the pain of those too far south to enjoy the benefits of a real winter. I, too, will be in the market for some foam in the near future, as Phase 3 of my layout goes from computer to benchwork.

For those Home Depot types in the South, I wonder why you don’t stock this stuff. My house is primarily insulated against the cold, but when the sun beats down and thins the tar upon the roof, (thank you, Drifters), and your shoes get so hot, you wish your tired feet were fireproof, I recognize the value of the foam beneath my shingles. Not only does my home stay warmer in the winter, it also stays cooler in the summer, thanks to foam insulation. Pink foam not only supports my track, it also keeps it cool in the roof above.
