2 loco questions

Evening folks: I have an out of production Walthers SW-1 that is in desperate need of new handrails. Any ideas of where to obtain? Question 2: I have an Athearn Genesis F-3 that the headlight is burned out. Shouldn’t be a problem except that the plastic light fixture (for lack of a better word) is “welded” (for lack of a better term) to the shell making headlight removal impossible. Any ideas on that one? Haven’t contacted Athearn yet, thought I’de try y’all 1st! Both models are HO btw.

Thanks in advance!

Matt

Can’t help you with the SW-1 though you may find some athearn parts that would be suitable replacements. I would try walthers as well. Once in awhile they Can help. As for the F3, if it is done the same way as my F9s, the bulb is held in with some sort of soft glue. If done carefully, it Can be pulled out of there. Had a genesis F9 with a burned headlight right out of the box and had to replace it.

Thanks Jeff. I’ll give that a try.

Smokey Valley might have the hand rails.

I think the headlights are held in with white glue. If you spray a little water the light bulb will loosen up

make sure to keep the water away from the mechanism!!

Walthers still had the SW-1 handrails as of a few months ago. Just call the parts department, and tell them you want to buy a set.

For the handrails try wire, tubing or styrene

boy, that web page made me dizzy! Didn’t see 'em at smokey valley, but viewing that text I may have missed them. I’ll see what Walthers has to say.

Thanks Guys.

Hey V&AL where did you get that pic just blow your text I recall a Railpaint.net or something like that of unpainted out line locomotives like that. am looking for the place at one time I new what it was but i cant remember and I have not been able to find it.

Thanks

I agree with you. I wish they had a better site. That’s one of those companies you have to call. I’m sure some of their kits work on multiple units.
