What is this? and did,as the seller claims, a company make these?
It is not a Climax of any species…
HOWEVER, it COULD be someones attempt at a New Zealand “Price of Thames” Type Cb. The vertical steam motor is in the “right” place for it, but it lacks the optional wing tanks -which makes a Cb so distinctive.

I saw that last night. No idea what the heck it is. Far less prototypical than anything Vic has created (and no that is not a challenge, Vic [;)]). Its too big for a one cylinder lokie. It could be turned into a class B Dunkirk by adding a second cylinder.
The boiler looks like its from Hartland. The cab looks like its Bachmann (Annie or Connie maybe?). The trucks are either Bachmann Heisler or possibly Hartland Big John. Either way, its a mess and they are asking way too much for it.

Looks like it mostly Hartland Big John, just modified.

It certainly does Brian, although I can’t claim to be knowledgeable about that particular make.
One thing is certain that a prototypical type of coupler on the modified loco make quite a diiference to its appearance.
looks like all he did was take the wood sides and a few dietals off, and repainted the thing.
Alan,
They are the #1 size Kadee couplers. Nice looking but you need a small flat blade to uncouple them.

Is that on Ebay AGAIN? Saw it there a while ago, with extra pics, its definetly a modified Big John, which means it should run very well. Its too much $ for me plus I already have too many lokies as it is. Its a nice looking model even if the vertcal engine is just a tad big for its cab.
I ain’t bidding, don’t float my boat! I may be old enough to remember some old steam, but nothing that ever looked like that! Maybe somebody tried to pick it up by the wood sides and busted them off!
