Sure is strange. We had 6,400+ posts and nothing said. Started over again to help the server and now with just a few, thread too long. Think they have other problems. I do what they say. They are gracious to let us carry on the way we do. Don told me by phone about this. Got home and Mom was crying and carrying on. Lucy has tummy ache [no BM for 24 hours]. Vet says OK unless she starts throwing up. Then call him immediately. Take her in tomorrow AM and he will personally handle her [not his assoc.s]. So now that emergency is over and things are settled, I got tofinally eat dinner. Now I can type this. Later
Happy that they let us chat. I’ve made some great friends here.
Glad to have you [even though you are a Yankee from way up Nawth].
PS: this is an edit. Took 2 minutes for the above to post. Something still wrong.
Ok there was already a new one started, so whats going on?
Teach Yankees to read. [sigh][:-^] UNOFFICIAL it says. Don was waiting for me to get home to computer to start new one.
I know what to do !
Post to one then cut & paste to add to the other…
[%-)][D)][sigh][:-^]
I agree with Chief there is something else going on with the servers.
Morning. Got to take Lucy to vet later. She is better this AM. Mom insist I take her [she had a tough BM].
Turning cold. Lows 12 and 11 coming. Low Thursday morning is suppose to be 12 and high 27. Friday morning low 11 with high 38. Then warmer but not back to normal.
Maybe sleep today. Hope all those up Nawth are OK as extreme cold up there. Hope no power failures and etc.
Later.
PS: Just checked my bank account [online]. Thanks to all you who work as I got SS raise. [^] Keep up the good work.
Working fine here. Must be the the tin cans and the strings are malfunctioning in Roseyville, NC.

Mornin’ Fellas.
All I’m going to say about this site is - I’ve been a member of multiple online forums for years and I’ve never seen one with as many performance problems as this one. My bet is they are using older servers that don’t have the capacity to support all their sites and forums…
I do have a recommendation for the Kalmbach staff - how about inviting a subset of your online community to test out your new site before you go live? I’m sure there are a few of us that would be more than willing to help you out in order to avoid many of these problems… just a suggestion
I would suggest that if we start discussing something that could be useful to others that we take that discussion into a seperate thread for all to read and reference.
Another thought - the search feature is nice… however I think the results page could use some tweeking… and what happened to the ‘threads I started’ option?
Back to the real world
Chief - I hope all turns out well with Lucy
Jim - Sorry I missed your post about Emma - Losing a family member is always difficult, especially those that make such an impact in our lives, be they human, feline, canine, avarian, etc.
GregM - I’m of the opinion that if you are looking for work you should flood every job posting with your resume. I know some will say that is not wise because you look desperate, but in these times it can’t hurt. Most companies use those job descriptions as guidelines. If you have the skills to perform the job duties and can demonstrate it, then many companies will hire you. If all you need is the degree, look into an online college. I know University of Phoenix has some online Associates and Bachelors programs for IT, and they aren’t very expensive… and you may be able to write it off on your taxes as ‘job training’ expense… check with an accountant before you attempt that. (and if you decide to go with UoP Susan may be your instructor! [:O] I can put in
Morning all!
I agree, seems like the latest new year thread wasn’t all that large to bind things up.
Chief: Hope Lucy is OK. Glad to see you still starting the pot. It just seems right.
Sir James: 4-yo still planning to go to train show Sunday! So I’m still in!
Charlie: let me know when you’ll be there, and I’ll try to meet up, and get a family portrait.
Finishing up rail cleaning (tops after weathering) and I’ll be running again! Can’t wait! Weathered wheels on the lionel 5700 cars…turned out well. I tried weathering the frames on one and it was too much. Will need to repaint the frame, and the wheels. 4-yo spun the wheels as I brushed on the paint.
Kurt
Good Morning from lower Sibera [:(] the weather is absolutely horrible and they tell us it’s going to get worse, sorry Doug. More snow last night and the winds are howling right now, our low tonight is to hit -14 and that’s before the wind. With last years winter weather and now this Decembers snow total (one of our highest) one has to wonder what the heck is going on. The weather babe just said our current wind chill is -21 and tonight’s wind chill will be -35 to -45, very dangerous situation.
Brent–I wish they would use you and Buckeye as beta testers and give you complimentary subscriptions to their magazines. These forum issues seem avoidable IMO. I have a feeling that the forum efficiency is not high on their priority list. I also understand clearly how newspapers and periodicals are hurting for advertising $$ in this economy, it’s not a good time to be in the media business as we are seeing staff cuts weekly.
I do hope the issues can be resolved quickly and again, THANK YOU CTT for making this forum possible.
Jim, I missed the Emma post. Sorry
Guys, condolences to our friend Bob Keller. He was out yesterday with a family member passing [dog]. Seems two in the last few months. Several of us know how that is.
Lucy is OK. Dr. gave her pills to clear her up. Told me to tell Mom to stop giving her people food or she will be paying him again [wait, she did not pay this time, I DID [sigh]]. Now taking Mom to work.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill…
It is cold. 12 degrees. The sun is shining. Going up to 22 today. Big deal…
Today is a busy day. Grocery shopping. Food prices have drifted up. Must be a new trend. Gas prices are close to $2.00 a gallon. Here we go again. Must need a bailout for gas companies. LOL
Dining car was here and we had the usual for breakfast.
Y’all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Morning all. Great Googly-Moogly, but it is cold out this morn and snowy! So glad the van started late last night after sitting all day in the Metra lot. Hope it does so today. Taking the train sure is a great option on a day like today - watching the snow fly through the big windows. Got some insights on winterizing a yard scene - its a lot more snowier - with just thin track lines visible from what looks like a vast meadow - and the low signals popping up green and red out of the murk. Quite a scene.
Glad Lucy OK - must’ve eaten something bad for her little stomach.
Kurt, so you painted the wheels? I’m presuming just the ‘face’. Can’t wait to see it.
Brent, the bride told me a packet arrived! I bet you’re right about the forum software in relation to servers.
Morning, about 27 currently in the Dc area. Received some new diecast cars in the mail yesterday. Will have them on the layout soon. Love Mustangs and cruise with several in a local car club, figured I would add a little cruise-in at a Dunkin Dounuts on the layout and combine 3 things I like, Mustangs, trains and DOUNUTS : )
I guess it’s sacralidge to start an coffee thread without chief. LOL!
Hi guys,
I’m going to be much more proactive about the process of locking old, and starting new versions of these coffee shop-style threads. It wasn’t yours, but rather a thread over in the Trains Mag section (that had 347 pages). We can’t have threads that big. Hampers performance.
Thanks for understanding.
Bergie
Cool, so we (or rather the Chief doesn’t have to track this… And can just begin anew. 347 pages - wow! Thanks for hosting this for us, Bergie!
Marty, that is one funny tag line on your post!
