Same here. Without any space, I haven’t had much train stuff to do.
When I had ‘no space’ I had a 00 layout on an old ironing board. It had –
Station
Train run round
Locomotive shed
Freight Siding
Cattle Dock Siding
One track Fiddle Yard
It was great fun to operate with small locomotives and rolling stock.
Oh, I’m no doubter when it comes to small space railroading. The wrinkle is that I don’t have the final say on the use of said space.
Build structures, plan for the future and have fun! Impressing your other half with your skill in creating your dream world in miniature has been known to open some real estate for development.

AVTrainz No way am I criticising you. We all have challenges in life.
I was in the same position just after we married.
Just so I could run trains I bought Dawn a new ironing board and used the old one as a layout. The beauty of it was after a running session the ironing board folded up and I put it away until next time
Dawn was pleased with her new board. I had a layout to which Dawn knew I was serious in model railroading. She now supports me on my hobby.
Brilliant work! My sincere compliments to your wife!
She is having a lot of fun the last year or so learning to quilt. Thank you!
I ditto Flintlock. Your wife is very gifted!
It can also be a lucrative hobby. My aunt made so much money quilting that she was able to buy her own quilting machine to make life easier.
Wow!
There may be hope for me having a layout, yet!
There is a shed out in my backyard, and if I can clean it out, run power to it, I could possibly move my current set up in the garage out to the shed and maybe build a multi level layout in the shed.
That’s what I’ve done. Here’s what I call “The World-Famous Chugger Barn.”
And a peek at what’s inside.
The only downsides are it’s COLD in the winter and takes a while to warm up with the quartz heater and it’s HOT in the summer but having four fans going helps a bit.
I like the backdrop. Where did you get it?
SceniKing. https://www.sceniking.com
I liked the look of that particular backdrop as it has a strong resemblance to the hills of northern New Jersey where I grew up.
Hay, all. I had given up on the CTT forum last fall when I could no longer log in. I renewed my CTT subscription this spring, and just found a new issue of the magazine in the PO box a couple days ago. Just for the grins of it, I tried to log in. After resetting my password, I’m back.
No current train activity lately. However another person has stepped up to continue the project my wife and I were working on in the KATY Depot museum in Sedalia, Mo. He has re-started the monthly model train days at the museum, similar to what we were doing a few years back. We will be in Sedalia this falll and will be happy to stop by to see what we can do to help.
Oh, got a general question - how does one log off of this forum? I haven’t found the proper button yet.
Hi 8ntruck, Its good to have you back. I think you will find that this new software is pretty easy to use. Unfortunately I don’t know how to log off the forum. I never do.

@York1 thanks for the logout info. I didn’t think about clicking on the avatar - that must be one of those assumed software knowledge things. I’m an ancient guy. Learned to code in Fortran IV, using IBM punch cards and paper tape.
