221 Dreyfuss Steam Engine

Hello! I personally am not a collector, but my husband happens to have a grey 221 Dreyfuss Steam Engine - which I think is from 1946. It belonged to his Dad and needs some work. Unfortunately, the “tender” has been lost over the years. The #221 is nicely visible on both sides of the engine. Am seeking someone who restores such engines in the Washinton D.C. area. Please advise. My email is jolmsteadrn@gmail.com Thanks!

Hello. It might be quicker to get you some help if we knew what scale the engine is. I suspect it is near 12" long, maybe a bit more, and weighs near 7-8 lbs…is this correct? If so, then we would want to move this over to the Classic Toy Trains forum, which I can do with your concurrence.

It is O scale. Lionel made the Grey 221 Dreyfuss.

Thanks, Luke. I’ll move this to CTT where it will get the attention it needs.

Thanks so much! You can tell I am not a collector - just a wife trying to make her husband’s day a little brighter! Again, thanks. Jane O.

welcome to the fourm. go to www.postwarlionel.com/

you can find pictures of the tender you need. that type is easy to find on ebay, and usually pretty cheap. the tender’s New York Central decales usually are in bad shape, but new onesare easy to find.
