224 Steamer clean up question....

I was checking out my 224 today and it is filthy, greasey, grimey, and in need of a serious cleaning, Can you suggest what I should use? How about automotive Brake Cleaner as a degreaser? Is that too abrasive?

I use a dielectric cleaner, you can clean mecanical and electrical components without problem.
Andre.

Personally, my favorite solvent for motor and gear work is goo gone. If possible, I remove parts and leave them to soak in the goo gone for a while, or at least rinse them well in it. I always follow up with isopropyl alcohol to remove what the goo gone leaves behind.
