My. 252 Crossing gate took a header off the table and broke both arms. I tried super glue but no luck. Any repair options? I looked on the Train Tender site and didn’t see replacement arms offered. The accessory is pretty cheap on ebay but I hate to throw things out. It may have to be spare parts but I thought I would try.
Epoxy should work.
What Super Glue brand did you use?? The best on the market is “Loctite” brand. I have never had a problem with holding power.
Hi, I used loctite and last night I tried epoxy. Neither worked well. I think the problem is holding things still long enough. I have now disassempled the unit and will clean things up with some sand paper and try again. Bob
The thing I found with epoxy is I can never press the pieces together too tight. Result is all the epoxy is squeezed out and therefore the bond is no good. I usually have to leave it a little loose so there is some of epoxy in the joint to make a good bond.
I had actally sanded a bit away on a taper to make some room. I scraped the epoxy off this morning and there was little adheasion. I have done the side I didn’t sand with JB Weld CA glue. Seems to be holding. The other side I just applied some Plastic Epoxy and will let it set up and see what happens.
