261’s Steve Sandberg to assist in Chicago & North Western 1385 rebuild
I wish good luck to Mid Continent and hope that Steve will help them get the job done finally and back on the road to being one of the best railroad museums in North American. I can remember when there would be three steam locomotives fired up at one time back in the glory days of the late 1960’s. All the pieces of the puzzle are there let’s hope it all comes together.
Steve Sandberg was an excellent choice by the museum to lead the restoration of thie former CNW steam engine. He will get it done.
Having met Mr. Sandberg and having ridden on excursions behind 261 probably 10 times, I think this is a good move by the North Freedom group. He should speed the process and help them raise funds and plot the rebuild process to make it as efficient as possible.
