Yes it is tragic but all drivers(including ambulance drivers) must remember stop look listen and live.our condolances to the families.

There is no good way to resolve the inevitable grade crossing incidents other than the old adage - stop, look and listen - and be aware of your surroundings.
R.I.P and stupid

This is very, very tragic. For a former EMT, it’s really hard for me hearing
about it. Like the fire dept., and police dept., EMTs/paramedics are all
brothers/sisters to each other. Really hard to lose three at one time,
in such circumstances as this. Hard to lose anyone at anytime.
As a driver for the local fire dept. I have to crossover railroad tracks to go on calls. Just because I drive a big red firetruck . When coming to a crossing I stop or slow down just in case the signals don’t work. I would rather sit there and safely deliver my crew in one piece to the scene
Very tragic as with all incidents with trains. I’m a firefighter myself and you must use caution at all times. The Big Red Truck or Emergency Vehicle does not give you right of way to a train.
I’d like to see a picture of this crossing, reading the article again, it seems the driver started to go across it and then realizing he wouldn’t make it, tried backing off the tracks. Wonder if this was some strange 3 or 4 track rural deal, considering if it was 1 or 2 tracks, he should have had enough time to get fully across without harm.
