3520 Searchlight car question

Hi train lovers,

I need a little help. Is there a way to activate a 3520 Searchlight Car without a remote controll track? I finally figured out how to put YouTube videos on my blog, http://theoldie.blogspot.com/ you’d think I could figure out how to fix that Searchlight Car issue. [:)]

Well, if it’s the car I think it is, with the mechanical stepper switch hanging underneath it, you could use your finger or a popsicle stick, with or without a permanent magnet glued to it…

There’s lots of other ways, but I think any of them would be more involved. For example, you could construct your own “magnetic activator” with a spare magnet from some junk and a simple switch.

Just hold the car in your hand(upright) and pull down on the lever, that will rotate the on/off switch.

Thanks for the help. I did get the car to light up; now I need to see if I have the second washer in the old parts box.
