Evening,
Just curious but, what’s your preference on 3D printed models and premade models for scenery, decor, etc.
I personally use a mix of both and i was wondering if anyone uses JUST 3D printed or premade models (this excludes locomotives, railcars, track bedding, etc)

I’m not familiar enough with 3D printed materials; how they react with paint, glue, etc. so I’m much more comfortable with traditional plastic models. I grew up with them and pretty much know their advantages and limitations.
As an extra disincentive, I DON’T LIKE WORKING WITH CA!
I manage to get parts everywhere except where they are supposed to be.

I haven’t yet used either but am trending toward plastic over 3D due to appearance. This mainly applies to buildings though. I’m an N Scaler so my options for detail scenery is limited. For detailed scenery like pallets, oil drums, scissor lifts, etc I’m mostly finding 3D stuff. Hope my painting and weathering skills are up to the task.
Usually when I do 3D printed models I need to sand them off after they print so they don’t have the weird texture or look to them. If its a wall I print it face side down (especially if its brick textured)
