Hey Everybody, i need some help, I’m trying to build a good layout, will anyone give me some ideas!!!
hey can i get some replys please i really need help
How about some parameters. What are the dimension limits? Minimum desired radius? What do you prefer—running long trains or more switching action? What plans have you considered so far?
i like long running trains, and i an thinking of putting my railroad in the attic(is that a remotley good idea???)because it has alot of space, i have seen a very few plans, but none apealed to me. I am Going to try to model the F+C(frankfort and cincantti) it origanly ran through downtown frankfort(where i live) and it passes behind my grandfather’s farm. i really have no idea on the turning radius thing???
Lots of space and O Guage go together well. Min. Radius referrs to the size turns you will use–a 54" radius curve will be 108" circle–comes into play in how much space do you have to make a turn, and what engines will run on it, and what cars–the bigger the engine, the larger the curve it needs to run and look good. Most manufacturers should have listed the minimum and recommended radius for their engines and rolling stock.
As for plans, I did alot of looking on the web and in books, and took bits and peicces of what I like and incorporated into a design I liked. I did not get to hung up on what guage was being modeled, as I was interested in what the main lines looked like. Try here for starters (http://www.dragonsfreehold.com/Plans/0-vwr.html), #6 through 13 are nice HO layouts–just double the size for O.
THX!!!
I got some really good ideas from that!!!
THX Again!!!
i am re posting this, i need to get some more help& see if any other people acutly have Oguage layouts.
i dont actually have a layout but i do ahve an OGauge set from lionel. LOTS OF FUN!. and have lots of fun making the layout.good luck!
[#welcome] Stilmon. I have a small O gauge layout, and I love it. I am really big into O and know a lot about the new products. What you should do is post this on the Classic Toy Trains Forum because that is where all of the O gaugers talk. Post this topic up there, and while you are there, stop in the Pot of Coffee, because you are welcome any time. Good luck, and I hope to see you up there.
