Has anyone ever ran 4 main lines? My and my dad are kind of spilting the project and we both want to have a train running and work in the yard and the only way we know how to do this is with each of us haveing 2 main lines. What does it look like to have 4 main line and how much space does it take up im using 55 code N scale. If any one has pictures of 4 main lines side by side i would like to see them.
It is a prototype practice that is only been done a few times. Very few examples in the real world. A few I can think of are the PRR Horseshoe cuve and the RaceTrack in Chicago.
Sometimes you see them at shows.

New York to Washington on the Pennsy and the UP from N Platte to O’ Fallons are both 4 main tracks.
They eat up a HUGE about of space compared to a single track.
Why not just have a switching lead? why do you need a whole mainline just to switch in the yard?
