Good Morning, All!
I rented a Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 AF-D over the weekend to see if it was something I’d be interested in purchasing. I tried to run a battery of tests on it. Two outings were rail related. I took a quick trip down to the Joint Line with a friend and I shot Amtrak No. 6’s arrival into Denver last night. I came home with 4 images that I thought were worth sharing:
First up is a southbound on the Joint Line showing some of the fun parts of winter – namely gorgeous light and dramatic skies:
While the southbound was passing by us, we noticed a northbound on the far track. This shot works at web resolution. Unfortunately, I needed a higher shutter speed to really make it work (there’s some heavy motion blur, even at 1/800th of a second!). Oh well:
Next up is one of the shots of the CZ. I call this Holiday Rush:
And finally, here’s my favorite shot from the weekend. The train was just about to depart, so I didn’t get a chance to get this car attendant’s name. Still, he was great. I thank you for posing for me, sir!
