40x60 Foam board in 1/2 inch thickness

Hello;
Does anyone know of a source for foam board !/2 inchs thick in a 40x60 inch size.

Welcome to the forum. That is an interesting question for I have never heard of it. I get 4x8 and cut it down. If there is such a size, I would be interested what it was manufactured for. If the the phrase “foam board” means foam care poster board, I get that at Michaels or Walmart or Target, but I don’t remember 40x60. I will be courious what this question produces.

It does come in this size but all I was able to find on the internet was a box of 12. I found that after I posted this thread. I dont need 12 only 3 but any help will be appreaciated. Oh the 12 sheets in that size go for $136.00,

These guys carry it in 4x8 sheets, and can cut it down to anything, they have had the whole range in thicknesses, I believe they have had up to 1" in thickness, in both black and white. I know that they carry the 1/4" in a whole variety of colors, and they carry Gatorboard as well.

as a matter of fact im running out to get foam tomarrow and was wondering this same question. whats is the the type of foam called ARTHILL?

If you mean foam core poster board, I have not been able to find it in 1/2" thickness in the40x60 sheet size. I did find 40x60 sheets in the thinner, more common foam core thickness (is it 3/16"?) at a Rag Shop (I believe it is a chain; it’s like a Michael’s craft shop) and laminated two sheets together using Super 77 adhesive spray to approximate 1/2" thickness. I checked at a few other craft stores but only Rag Shop had it in my area.

By chance are following the N Scale Layout start-to-finish book? That’s where I got the idea to use foam core sheets and i’ve been happy with it so far.

I know this thread is a few years’ old, but in case anyone is looking for 1/2" x 40 x 60 foam board, I just found some at my local Utrecht art supply store. They are a chain, with stores in many major cities:

They sell it online as well, but only in packs of 12 sheets.

I am also using it for the “N Scale Model Railroad That Grows” book/project.
