44 Tonner DC as opposed to DCC?

Hello, all - Is it possible to run a DCC equipped 44 Tonner, (Bachmann), with a DC system??

Thanks, Jimmy

Yes, if it is equipped with a dual mode decoder or one that you can set the CV to run on dc.

Just my 2 cents…

Thanks, Chuck - I will explore this further.

I have a toggle switch – DCC and DC inputs. My locos, one of with is a Spectrum GE 44 Tonner, have a variety of basic Digitrax, TCS, and NCC decoders installed (I believe the 44 Tonner has a Digitrax N-scale decoder in it; if it’s important, I’ll go check). If I flip the toggle over to DC, they ALL start moving at the same speed, same direction. But they work.

And most of them buzz like crazy… but you didn’t ask about that.

I have the Bachmann (Spectrum) 44 Ton (and a few others), I run DC only. The Bachman “DCC on Board” locos work right out of the box… I bought the Spectrums “DCC-ready” which meant that I had to put a supplied "jumper " on the Circuit board inside the loco. It was pretty easy…

There may be a one-off exception somewhere, but any factory-installed DCC engine is going to be dual-mode so you can use it on DC without modification right out of the box.
