has anyone had any experience with this accessory. It is a bit pricey and i was wondering if it has any quirks and if it works right out of the box?

I have one and it works like a charm. The only change I made was to install a single pole-double throw switch to change power from track to variable accessory voltage when I was ready to operate the tipple. That way, I could vary the speed of the tipple without affecting the track voltage.

Works great,looks great.You have to be aware of where the hopper car is on the unit but that comes fairly easy.READ The INSTRUCTIONS ! There is a screw under the unit (like an old record player) that must be removed prior to use.I think I’m showing my age.
