64' "ARMN" reefers in HO scale???

Hello everyone, I am a new member. Just want to ask the community, and specifically anyone with industry connections, WHY no manufacturer has not come out with the modern 64’ reefer? I see these babies all the time, and they a part of the famous “Fresh Express”. Don’ t we have enough tankers, covered hoppers, etc? This would be a great and necessary model for any modern layout! Thanks!

[#welcome] to the forums.

I feel your pain. I model BNSF and would like to have some of theirs.

I posted a similar question back in July (wow, it’s been that long).

Anyway here is the link:

While I don’t model the modern era, I would suspect at the rate that new cars are being introduced, I wouldn’t be suprised to see these cars. With companies like ExactRail out there and the folks at Atlas and Athearn moving ahead with new projects the future looks promising. Just be patient and start saving your change!

I notice that Microscale decals offers decals for BNSF and UP modern reefer cars.

Those are Trinity RailCar TrinCool Mechanical Refrigerator cars in the lengths of 64’ and 72’.

What would be fitting is if the 64’ TrinCool Mech. Reefer were released in Z, N, HO, O, and G within the same year. With the 72’ TrinCools being made in Z, N, HO first.

The 64’ long TrinCool Mech. Refrig. could be made by Lionel as a part of the American Flyer line in S Scale with S Gauge trucks.

That same Lionel/American Flyer S Scale TrinCool Car can be mounted on O Gauge trucks for the Traditional O Gauge rolling stock line.

The 72’ long TrinCool Mech. Refrig. can be made by Helper S Service or American Models in S Scale.

The 64’ TRINCOOL can be made by M.T.H. in HO Scale and O Scale to accompany the SD70ACe and SD70M-2 Diesel-Electric Locomotives.

Just noticed this while surfing the Intermountain site. While not exactly what the OP was looking for, looks like something that can fill some need for more modern reefers.

Scroll down to the R-70-20 at the bottom.

Ironically, the site says they are available in October, I received my set of 6 a couple weeks ago from Caboose Hobbies where I had pre-ordered them. It was a surprise. They are really nice cars.

Oh very nice! I want one. I’ll be in Caboose this weekend looking for them.
