6555 Tank Car Question?

I recently bought a 6555 single dome tank car. Nothing special about it, except that the dome is black and not silver?[:0] I don’t think lionel ever came out with a repro black dome and this one looks authentic and not a repro. If anyone has any info about this that would be great, thanks.

I’m not aware of a black dome version of this car. Could someone have removed the dome and spray painted it black?

It doesn’t look like it was painted, because the paint looks original. Ive seen other versions of this car before but with a silver dome. Thanks
