72 hour Transcontinental also for Truckers?

Thought the Pennsylvanian was a Pittsburgh - New York train?

They’re talking about the part of the trip that goes between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh. The train splits at Harrisburg and follows an interesting pair of routes, one to Hoboken; the other to Philadelphia and south to Washington.

Some people never had their train layout as a kid and it shows.

I tend to believe that Auto-Train would only work in some sweet spot corridors as long ago discussed in this Forum. I don’t think your going to ever see it work on a transcontinental route.

At least my Acela II HO runs. :slightly_smiling_face:

Not to disrupt the “flow of chat” about coast to coast. Bob explains in detail (as usual) the TOFC and ‘kangorou’ system etc…it made me wonder.

Harold, the story of JB Hunt/Santa Fe, meal place setting on inside a TOFC…Harold, you’ve been to me a trustworthy poster. Am I being fooled by being a beliver of this “tale”?

I live in AR and might have to go down state to JB’s front porch and ask him personally. Note: Nobody hold your breath. Regards to all. God Bless the USA endmrw0704251406

Whoever said this about ATSF/JBH Quantum service is getting their stories mixed up… It was American President Lines, placing a diner set inside one of their containers to show how smooth the ride was with double-stacks.

Thanks for the correction which I hope remains and doesn’t cause “offense” to anyone.

Apparently anytime I post a factual correction it gets removed.

So paint schemes and whistles all aboard!

Transcontinental mergers such as UP with NS could speed up services and cut into truckers ~70% share of freight.

It is being pitched as having service in place for the upcoming soccer World Cup in 2026.

Dream on!
