74 days till York!

[oops]

Hooray!!!

Um Craig…wrong forum![}:)][:P]

I was wondering when this would start!

Now that it has, Who is going to York?

Marty,

Which forum should I have used?

I said that with tounge firmly planted in cheek.

Marty,

I was wondering, because this post was deleted from another forum overnight. I was trying to figure out if that was what you were getting at.

Jebus,not this York crap again![:D]

We are giving serious thought to attending this year, it would be our first time and would love to experience the happening at least once. It’s a long haul from Iowa and that’s what’s held us back so far, but what the hey. Keep the post’s coming, I enjoy living vicariously  Jon

Craig, I guess we don’t have to ask which forum that was! [swg]

Jon, I only live about 25 miles away and last year was the first time I was there. It is a nice experience.

Heh, here we go with the York threads again! This should be interesting. [:)]

I haven’t recovered from the last tirade salvos. I’m staying out of this one. [:D]

Ok Craig,
as long as you don’t start that stuff on the other website… Although it might take some of the heat off of TMCCII heheheheheheh

Mike

Mike,

I started this post on another forum and it was promptly deleted.

This post was not thought up to start a debate of TCA, it was posted because I am really looking forward to the cooler fall weather and taking a day off to take in the York meet.

82 days is funny, not exactly right around the corner, but before you know it we will be at York again, and having fun.[:D]

Unfortunatly, the older I get…the more time flys. It seems like only yesterday I was getting a speeding ticket on the way to York last Spring. Joe

Lot’s of negative criticism of the Eastern Division show at York has been on the pages of many model RR forums. Perhaps having seen this; it is what the other forum was looking to avoid. Bottom line is that unless you are a board member, you or I won’t be able to change the rules. Even with the rules as they are, York still is the best train show that I have even been at. I expect to be at York with my lovely wife Paula and yes she really likes trains. I usually wear a large name badge so if anyone notices it and wishes to say hello, please feel free to do so.

I may visit York…someday. But after reading all the negative things I heard about it months back, I may just not even bother with York at all. Not to mention the distance I would have to travel from here.

Folks,

TCA Eastern Division puts on the biggest and best train meet I have ever attended.

For years people were asking me if I was going to York. My reply was no, I live 5 miles from the Maryland State Fairgrounds and they have several train shows there a year. How much better could York be? Finally someone (Paul Edgar) told me, just go, and you will see. They sponsored me and I went.

I was totally blown away. It had to be 5 times bigger than my local shows, the deals were much better, all the top brass from all the manufacturers were there, easy to talk with, and with nice layouts and their latest prototypes and items nicely displayed. I know I have saved several hundred dollars over the last few years by making my purchases at York meets. An additional plus is the commaradary amongst all us train nuts that gather from all over the country that makes the meet even better. It is similiar to a National Convention.

Another big TCA advantage is membership in your local chapter…mine is the Washington, Baltimore, and Annapolis chapter. The WBA chapter puts on several meets per year. At these meets you can rent a table for cheap, and sell of shelf queens, or old track. I have done this a few times with good results.

If you have never been to York…please just try it. I bet you too will be blown away. (ignore the petty politics)

York reminds me of the Ohio State Fair. There is a ton of behind the scenes political nonsense that has gone on with the Ohio State Fair over the last twenty years, but the bottom line is that it is a great fair.

It is in our best interest to forget about politics and leave that to the Eastern Divison BOD to deal with. Politics has had little effect on any TCA member so why worry about it? Just go and enjoy the show. The vast majority of us do. .
