75-Year Collection DVD Problems

Is anyone having problems installing the MRR 75-Year DVD on thier Macintosh with OS 10.6? I keep getting a 8068 error code during the install process.

I don’t usually do Macs (the wife is the family mac expert), I do know there was at least one earlier thread on mac install issues here in the forum. Probably worth looking up to see if the issue has been addressed.

Thanks, I did look it up but there was no corrective action in the string.

I think I read on one of the threads that after calling customer service, one customer on a MAC was sent a patch file that made the software work.

Yes, call the customer support line and talk to them. I had issues with installation on the desktop, but the laptop was smooth sailing. Depends on the hardware by the look of it.

So, do call and seek their assistance.

Great, but is the customer support line free from the UK? Not happy as a long time subscriber!

They do have a 1-800 number, Mike. You can also e-mail them from this page.

Not on a Mac but in WinXP I kept getting drive not ready error messages. Hitting the cancel key a couple of time eventually re-started the install process.

That’s your DVD drive. Or you didn’t wait for it to spin up before clicking continue like it says in the install instructions. Installed fine on both my desktop and laptop, although it did take literally forever on the laptop - mainly because liek most laptops, it has a low power (read, SLOOOOOOW) DVD drive.

Since I started this, I guess I had better end it.

Kalmbach is aware of the problem with certain Macs and has a patch to fix it for you. Best way to get it is to send Customer Service an e-mail at https://secure.kalmbach.com/customer/help.aspx?siteid=14&pubcode=mrr and let them know. They will send you an email within 48 hours containing the patch, but they will also put you on the list to receive an updated Disk 1 with the patch, when ready.

Kalmbach was quick and courtious, and the patch worked fine.

If install this on your computer can you take it to another computer to also install it. I mean full installs on both.

Not the drive. Water for over a minute before trying as the install instructions suggested. The drive had spun up and was ready as I could see the contents in windows explorer
