This is for those of you who have bought the disks How do I capture an image to my computer so that I can resize the plans and keep the rescaled plans in my computer as a file I am new to computers and about the only thing I can do for sure is Email Please Help I bought the disks so that I could capture the plans for future scratch builds Thanks Paul

That’s going to depend on several factors, such as the type of computer and printer you have, the operating system you’re using (Windows, Apple, Linux) and how much memory is in your computer. You need to provide more specifics on exactly what you currently have.

There doesn’t seem to be an option to copy a particular page or article from the DVDs to your computer’s hard drive, but you can print whatever is on your screen at the time by clicking on the printer icon at the top of the page.

If you have enough hard drive space, there is an option during installation to copy the entire DVD contents to your hard drive.

Assuming that you are using Windows and Microsoft software, follow these steps:

  1. Get the image you want on your screen.

  2. Press the Print screen key (it’s near the backspace key)

  3. Open a Microsoft Word or PowerPoint document

  4. Press Ctrl and V - that will paste a picture of your screen into the document.

  5. Now you can crop and resize the picture anyway you want.

  6. You can then save the document and retrieve it later.

It may take a little practice, but it’s worth learning.

It’s OK to do this for your own use, but it violates copyright to distribute such copies.

Instructions for Mac users would be appreciated also if anyone’s got 'em.

Thanks.

On a Mac:

To take a picture of the whole screen, press Command-Shift-3.

To take a picture of part of the screen, press Command-Shift-4 and drag to select the area you want.

Also, if you immediately hit the spacebar after typing Command-Shift-4, the crosshairs are replaced with a little camera icon. Using the camera, you can take a screen shot of the Dock, the entire menu bar, a single open menu, the desktop, or any open window.

All of the above methods will automatically save the screen shot to your desktop, with a date stamp as part of the name.

To copy the screen capture to the clipboard instead of saving it as a file, press Control-Command-Shift-3 to copy the entire screen to the clipboard, or Control-Command-Shift-4 to copy the selected range to the clipboard. You can then paste the image most any where you’d like.
