I am looking forward to it!!

…If you mean 765 is restored and back together, and operating that really is good news. Seems like it’s been out of service for some time now…Years.
It is one steamer that has made many a trip to Muncie back in the 80’s…Hope that might happen again in the near future.

What kind of engine is that?
Matthew

NKP S3 Berkshire i believe

They say the engine will be featured in a trains mag article in early 2006.

I grew up watching this engine rust away on outdoor display, so it is heart warming to see restored

for a pic look here http://cd.textfiles.com/nopv10/023a/nkp_765.gif

…AntiGates…You mention of the outdoor display…I’ve been trying to find a photo I took of that engine when {as I remember it, within a chainlink fence enclosure}, back years ago…In the Ft. Wayne area someplace…I would see it traveling back and forth to Michigan from Muncie. I can’t pin point the date but had a rather new 62 Super Sport Chevy while doing that so it’s in the realm of 40 some years ago…Later surprised when hearing of it’s restortation and better yet seeing it come into Muncie on excursions.

ladies and gentlemen
It will be worth your trip to go to new haven and see the restored locomotive.was going to go sunday but was lucky today.matt and i got a sneak peek.matt and i will visit again asap.

Based on the photos, the body style looks like a LIMA. Reminds me of the 4-8-4 #614.

Didn’t Ross Rowland own the 765 unit at one time?

…I’m no authority on the subject but I don’t thing it was owned by Ross…

According to one website I found, it was a Lima. The first 15 Berks were ALCos.

Another site associated the 759 with Ross, although I don’t think he actually owned it.

Yeah, it sat at the intersection of 4th and Clinton for decades.

I’ve got a picture of me around here somewhere standing on the cowcatcher back when the Nickle Plate donated the loco to the city, I’ll bet I was like 16 months old at the time

…If I had my photo of the builders plate in front of me I could sure say who built her but I’d have to go through a bunch of photos to pull that certain one out…I did take a close up of the plate…611 too when it made one of it’s several stops here in Muncie…

AntiGates…I have wondered about my photo of that for years but just have never put the big hunt on to find it…I believe I must have it in my many, many prints in storage, etc…
I didn’t even remember where in the Ft. Wayne area that was anymore…Thanks for adding your take on it…

Ross owned no NKP Berkshires–BUT he did lease 759 from Steamtown, which needed the $$.
