There was a really good article on the front page of the Chicago Tribune this morning about the resurgence of American Railroads and how this “old” industry is now growing by leaps and bounds (as if us railfans didn’t already know this was true). The article is much too big to post here in its full form but one thing that struck me was the “factoid” that stated BNSF handles roughly 250,000 intermodal containers in 2004 and is expecting to handle roughly 800,000 in 2006 and perhaps as many as 1,000,000 in 2007. This is really going to make railfanning fun, fun, fun!
I saw that headline this morning, too, but it was on someone else’s paper in their driveway. Hope it surfaces somewhere online soon, or I may have to break down and buy one!
Maybe this will help my stock option and 401K?
I can just see it now…“Oh…yawn…here comes another one.” I’ll be ready!
Well if that is correct then it makes perfect sense for the BNSF to be triple tracking the Cajon Pass & Barstow to Daggett[:)]

A fairly well written article…or is it an editorial.
Just curious, how is that Joliet****nal coming along? Is it done and operational? For a short time in 2001 I believe it was, I hauled into there. It was just a ginormous expanse of dirt then.
