99 Reefers of Beer on the Track

Sure its hi-rail but its fun. My uncle sent me the link…

That was especially neat to watch it wind it’s way down the helix.

The smoke lokos good, but would severely bother my asthma. ANd the sound of the chuff looked spot on with the smoke, but bothers my ears after a minute or two. but the whole thing looked really cool.

Now if only my HO locos could pull 99 reefers…nah dont have the room.

Real cool video for what it was displaying. Like the pulling power of those MTHers as well. Sound is good but --no to smoke.

I have the room for 99 N scale reefers but I’d need a consist of 6 RS3’s to haul that!!

Good find. That was a pretty steep helix. I wonder how well the loco’s do going the other way up it.

Good fun - wish I could have been there.

You know what though, I think that smoke was more realistic than the whistle on one of those. SOunded like he squeezed a geezer.

Great video, very impressive layout. I thought 30 orange SF map reefers looked good behind my Genesis F3 ABA, that was alot of reefers. I definetly have reefer madness, I have around 100.

Like Santa Fe, I have an almost DEADLY affinity for reefers. I always run about 30-35 reefers behind one of my HO Yellowstones just as a matter of course, LOL! But 99? And full of BEER?

Ah, the mind deliciously boggles![:D] Very Neat Video!

I didn’t know Triplexes moved so fast or that they didn’t earn their living by being pushers.

It’s ludicrous! … But then these are only toy (third rail) trains. I’m a confirmed 14-year-old (4+ times over), but those guys are definitely five-year-olds. But das macht nicht. They are having fun. That’s what matters.

Mark

5 year olds with alot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

OK, but why Ballantine Ale?

My friend, there are many deep mysteries in life. [:D]

Great video. Great looking layout. Actually, I was quite impressed by the sound, especially the way the microphone recorded the cars as they were passing. I don’t especially care for the smoke. A nice novelty item, but it always looks whispy to me. Like someone is sending smoke signals from a campfire instead of a steamer blowing smoke. Even at idle. Not taking anything away from any brand or scale, they all are that way to me. Of course if it were realistic then you would need a power vent system[(-D].

With a demand for that much beer, it would be more believable using Lone Star or Pabst Blue Ribbon.

I’ve got plenty of reefers, thank you, well over 200! Oddly none are for beer!

Todd:

Goes to show you how ‘localized’ a good brew can get–can’t get Lone Star out here in NorCal, and BARELY get Pabst. Out here, it’s either Miller Time or Bud (ugh! [xx(]).

Myself, I’d fill those cars with Gordon Biersch Czech Pilsner. OOOOOOOH! [:P]

And wish we could buy the Czech beer at local Praha (that’s Prague to you) prices where it is cheaper than bottled water. (What a difference a tax makes.) … hmmmm, Budweiser is a Czech (immigrant) beer. Wha’ happened? … But then virtually every beer in the world is Germanic (breweries founded by German immigrant speakers) except for recent mini-breweries.

The answer to the world’s problems is to make beer tax-free and to tax bottled water.

Speaking of bulk shipments of alcoholic beverages, how about drinking wine siphoned directly from a railroad tank car, particularly us box-wine drinkers?

Come to think of it, I believe only 5 or 6 of my 100 or so reefers are beer reefers. You know, I was a recovering reefer addict until I accidently discovered Greenway Products…then I fell off the wagon…again.
