Taken in the early 90s, high-horse 4 axle warbonnets roll the ultra-hot 991 east of Bakersfield (Ca)

Awesome. Any idea how fast she was going? Seems like at least 70 MPH…

Was that third one a “B” Unit?

Oh look…
A GE toaster being shoved along by three EMD GP60 locomotives…one of them a B unit…

Doing about 65, that’s the 991 for ya’!

How can I actually DL the vid to my HD?

Great clip

Ugh. that is smoking…

Counting the time it takes for two of those desiels to pass a chosen spot and estimating feet per second… I think that thing was rolling at near 78 mph.

It cannot really be much faster than that.

Also did that GE unit have the stamina to withstand being shoved by the EMD’s horsing on it hammer in the hole?

I dont think there are permissions to capture and download the video to the hard drive. I have posted several to this site myself and dont think Ive found a way to “Capture” it yet.

help all i got was the audio… thanks

Gonna need highspeed connection, and have all the latest codecs for windows media player.

That was a pretty slick clip…

I’m reminded of a Beach Boys song:

“If she had a set of wings, then I know she could fly” (Little Deuce Coupe)

That train is moving!

Now THAT is railroading at its finest!

Santa Fe: a class act right to the end. Thanks for the video clip.

She’s going 60Mph. It got even better out on the desert were she would get up to 79Mph legaly and a tad faster at times. I’ve chased trains from Needles to Barstow where I couldn’t get ahead (210 miles). With the high HP/Ton the 9s got, the only thing that would slow them down was Ash Hill.

What an excellent video clip. How fast did you have to go to pace the train? You cn definitely tell they did not lollygag with that train![:D]

wow now thats a train!!!

SANTA FE ALL THE WAY!!!
