a bit OT, sorry, a song..

Hi

This has little to do with trains other than the fact that I listen to this song while playing MSTS, I just need a little help…

“Six days on the road” , it has a million versions, and I remember one specific version of the song, but don’t know which is the author…

Its an older recording, and starts with drums, has a sort of like a drum intro, almost like a drum roll, very short, then the singer has some polyphonic vocal help at the begining, then when it comes to “there’s a speed zone ahead…” he continues solo.
It also features one of those low pitched “cowboy” guitar parts (like the ones used in sphagetti westerns)

Anyone have any idea who recorded that version?

It was written by Earl Green & Carl Montgomery, and first recorded by Dave Dudley in 1963.
Could this be the version you’re after?
It was also performed regularly by the “New Riders” in the 70s.

No, It’s not the version by Dave Dudley.

Thanks anyway

Can you think of any version that exactly fits my description?

Like you said,it’s been done countless times,by countless people.
The only other group that comes to my mind; is Sawyer Brown.
