What ever happened to the Ameican Coal Enterprises’ modern steam loco? Has the project failed, or is it still in development?
I think what happened is that oil got cheap again. I seem to recall seeing a photo of a frame with drivers though – did that get scrapped?
Speaking of dead projects – anyone remember the Marlboro cigarette excursion train?

…Yes on the Marlboro train. I believe some or all of the equipment was sold off to various locations.

Marlboro train:The two F59PHI locos were sold to a commuter agency,most of the cars were scrapped by Colorado Railcar before ever turning a wheel.
Were not the Australians working on a coal-fired engine, using powdered coal and water as an injection mix?

Can’t speak to Ausies, but UP tried this with the No 80 (later renumbered 8080) in 1960s.
