My daughter found these in an antique store. I am still stunned!
Outstanding! And they look to be in great condition as well!
My congratulations to your daughter on that great find!
Here’s the thing folks, if you see an antique shop, antique mall, or thrift shop and you have the time stop in for a look, 'cause you never know, do you?
(I’m not a Flyer fan but I think even I’d grab 'em if the price was right!)
Thanks ! They are in good shape. I’ll give them a servicing and put them to use.
Antique stores can be fun, as you never know what you’ll find !

Nice find! That is the one year only EL Capitan set from 1956. Here are the two catalog pages it had.
Limited production set? That makes it an even better find!
Beautiful!
Thank You ! Great info on the set. I do not have the dome car, but I love this set ! Looking forward to running it !

It is interesting that the original set had a billboard horn. Lots of play value ! What a neat set !

I love it !
Thanks !
I have two sets of Warbonnets in HO scale, ABBA consists and a total of 16 passenger cars. Love them.
I still have my childhood American Flyer trains which I treasure, but I do not have any Santa Fe Warbonnets. My lifelong best buddy had a Lionel set as a kid, and I always envied him.

I noticed the air horns are missing from the roof of the diesel. Replacements can be purchased from any of the American Flyer parts suppliers online. A package of ten costs $12.50 from PortLines.
In 1956 Gilbert also made set #5683RH. It was a Santa Fe PA/PB/PA with 5 passenger cars.
Congratulations!
I am slowly building a collection. The PA’s are really nice !
Thanks ! I haven’t had time to clean and service them yet, but soon.I’m glad it is just the horns.
Thanks ! Hope to have them running soon.
Amazing!
Looks great!
