A couple of serious questions...

Okay back to serious railroad questions:

  1. At what point did GE stop using the U30C/U23B…and adopt the C44-9W/AC4400 designations and why?

  2. What became of the P30CHs that Amtrak used to run?

  3. Have any of the railroad folks out there operated for Amtrak and if so were there any big differences in working for them vice a Class1, both in procedure and equipment?

I’m sure if I went to google or something I could probably find these answers, but it wouldn’t be nearly as entertaining.

Humor and digressions are authorized in this thread, since I started it…Alot of good info usually results from it. (mook and followers)

Thanks in advance

dharmon, Hello, we have a thread where alot of questions are asked and answered. There are alot of the regulars who check out this thread daily and your question stands a very good chance of getting answered fast. I am not trying to be rude but just trying to be helpful. Even though the thread is entitled Stupid Question Thread all questions are considered and I think you would enjoy the thread. Here is a link to it:

Try it, you’ll like it. [:)]

It’s me again. I just used the copy and paste features to put your question in the Stupid Question Thread. I GUARANTEE if you look there Thursday at noon you will have an answer. You might even have an answer before then. Many of our regular thread readers check that thread more than once a day.

dharmon Welcome to the forums [;)] I know you will enjoy them. [;)]

Best Wishes [:)]

And many happy posts. [:p]

No offense taken nor perception of rudeness. It was merely my weak attempt to poke fun at the “let’s keep it serious” side of the forum as much as it was to find an answer. I do peruse the threads and have found alot I did not know. I come here for entertainment because my railroad interests both as an observer and modeler are a hobby…which is by my definition is an escape from from the daily grind not to add additional stress to it. If I wanted be in a place where I needed to keep it professional all the time I’d just stay at work. This is an “open forum”…I presume where those with common interests share info and opinions, so to speak. I am new here, might be out of line. I hope not. Alot of good info and entertainment to be found here. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Thanks for forwarding the post. I do appreciate it.

Hi Dan,
Jim was right, you most likley will get your question answered before noon.
A lot of real railroaders are here, it is one of the few places where we can be “fans” of what we do for a living, and not have to justify being so.
Some of us even have model railroads too!

Homor is more than welcome, in fact, it add to the discussions, you usually remember something if it is delivered with a dose of humor.

Sorry to have to inform some, but if they are looking for a really serious, railroad only, how many riviets are in a ACF three bay hopper forum, this aint it.

Actually, not sorry in the least!

Some folks are so tight **** they need a #10 drill pipe ream just to losen up.

Sit a spell, ask questions, lots of them, none are really stupid, tell a joke and poke fun at us.
Trust me, at some point, one of us will poke fun at you!

I like your point, if you wanted to stay at the grinder, you would have stayed at work!

Welcome to the Zoo!

Stay frosty,
[:D]Ed

Well Mr. Zookeeper Ed I guess that leaves me to clean up the cake crumbs from Matt and Mookie.
