A few misc. questions

Hey guys as always when I have a question I go right to the group who gives me all the help I need.

  1. which Dremmel attachment is best for fixing my sloppy soldering work from joining some track. ??

2 I am doing an Acurail kit and I am adding the Kadee Metal wheel sets. It seems that the screw that holds it too the car does not man to go all the way in . SHould I look for another screw or drill the hole a bit to help the screw that came with the wheel sets… Also what is with the little paper washers that came with the wheel sets…

Thanks Joseph

#2 I would get a 2-56 tap and rethread the hole and put in a 2-56 screw of the right length. the paper washer is to put between the truck and the car to adjust coupler height if needed.

I got the diamond cut off wheel for my Dremmel and I use for many things including cleanup. They cost a little, but don’t break and have a smaller kerf than the regular cutoff wheels, that do break.

For Accurail trucks I usually use Intermountain wheels. The needle pionts are smaller, and are machined, instead of plastic. They roll very well.

The screws Accurail gives you in the kits are 3/16" long. I have found that they are too short. 1/4" screws are the hot setup for the trucks. 3/16" works great for the coupler boxes. Shouldn’t have to tap out the holes, the longer screw will hold it all together.

A wire wheel attachment for the Dremel is best for cleaning up solder. It works slowly and isn’t as hard on the track and ties. Just be sure to wear eye protection!
