I live in CSX country, and that’s my road of choice [along with B&O], but I know a “rare bird” when I see one. So when I saw this GE warbonnet parked in the passing siding at the Woodstock, MD grade crossing, I figured I should snap a few pics - might be worth something someday.
Here it sits, on hold:
Ditch lights on, #621 has just been cleared:
As she slowly lumbered past, the tall trees robbed me of any decent light, so the camera’s flash automatically activated. Notice the weird effect it had on the reflective tape strips:
great pics![bow][tup][tup][tup]she looks a little faded though -BNSF may repaint her with the powerbar i love the warbonnet the only better BNSF paint scheme is the powerbar (heritageIII)
Nice! I’m in CSX country, too. (I miss my Conrail!) I always liked that scheme on the newer diesels. Usually, when I see BNSF around here, it’s those hideous pumpkins.
Aw-w-w-w-w…you didn’t have to do that, Ken!! Warbonnets to me bring back memories of long ago in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. I was only “hoping” to see an older piece of locomotive power, but the photos were still nice to see.
Great pictures KenLarsen! [8D] I just can’t believe Santa fe’s warbonnets are the thing of the past! Sign of the times! [:(] All my favorite railroads are now fallen flags, SP, AT&SF,MOPAC, Rio Grande, WP, CB&Q, NP, GN,SSW, T&P, CRI&P-Rock Island.
