Hi all. I’ve just got back into model railroading after a long break. I have looked around for a how to super site for a while and haven’t been able to find one with the exception of this one. I have been a military modeler for years and have been going to www.armorama.com for the past few years for info and stuff. Maybe some of you are familiar with it and if not maybe you could check it out to see what I mean when I refer to it. I was wondering if anyone out here could recommend one to me. This is such a great hobby and I find it hard to believe that theres not a site like that out there. Thanks to all in advanced. Anthony.
Hello Anthony,
Your on a great how to site . Ask questions , read the magazine , also MR has down loadable PDF files for sale.
I’ve been a model railroader for 25 years and still find myself asking questions.
P.S Welcome to the group…

Hi there Anthony… not trying to either brag or advertise but mines not bad … http://www.xdford.digitalzones.com but you are right, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of how tos around and ones that are… like mine… are probably a bit skimpy.
I have a link to my email… feel free to contact off list if I can help you
Regards
Trevor
For overall and introductory model railroading information, this site is the best I have found. Each of the magazines (links above) has their own section with many, many articles. For more in depth information there are sites that go into one or two topics deeply - ask here for particular topics you are interested in. Some to look at are http://siskiyou.railfan.net/ and http://www.nmra.org/ - the NMRA’s site has a Worldwide Directory of links http://cwrr.com/nmra/ that is the best I have found.
Enjoy

[#welcome] Anthony. “How to” web sites ?
Try these for starters:
National Model RR Association
http://www.nmra.org/
Layout Design Group
http://ldsig.org/
Joe Fugate - how to’s on DVD
http://siskiyou.railfan.net/
Harold Minkwitz - excellent web site with a lot of how to’s.
http://www.pacificcoastairlinerr.com/
And last, but not least, Aggro’s compilation of widely useful links
http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?page=1&TOPIC_ID=36405
There are many more. Use the forum search tool and as has been pointed out, you only need ask [:)]
Regards and have fun
