A good word for Tony

I recently ordered an HO scale CMX track cleaner from Tony’s Trains. It arrived today (sooner than expected) and when I checked the enclosed invoice I noticed they charged me $15.00 less then the price listed on their website. There was a note on the invoice saying the CMX is going on sale 1/10/11 so they charged me the sale price. Thanks Tony!

And, you got a great product! I love my CMX.

Peerless Customer Service from Tony’s is the golden Rule. I’ve been doing business with them since the mid 90’s and always pleased by top notch products and support.

They have the WORST customer service e-mail replies in the industry, thus I spend my money elsewhere!!![:(!]

Ah, a dissenting voice. [(-D] [swg] It seems like everyone in the hobby has had a less-than-favourable experience with at least one place of business.

Always good to hear of good customer service.

Willy, if you don’t get a response on email, a phone call usually fixes the problem. My favorite LHS never answers emails but will pick the phone up in a hurry. Not everyone is up to speed with technology.

willy6,

I don’t know how many times you tried to contact TTE but here is their disclaimer from their How to Contact Tony’s web page:

Spam is making emailing more difficult. We answer emails within 12-48 hrs, but about 20% of our replies are lost in cyberspace. Please call +1-802-878-5005, US/Canada toll-free 800-978-3472, or fax 802-878-5550 if you do not receive a reply by then. [Text in bold mine]

It’s located just below the Send it! button under the Your Message: box.

I also received excellent treatment from Tony’s Trains. After getting back into the hobby after a 20 + year absence, I decided to make the move to DCC. I had decided I wanted to go with an NCE powercab setup. While I was at a train show I came across Tony’s booth and purchased the Powercab and some decoders from them. After making my purchase I had become aware of some differences between the Powercab and the Procab and I was better off purchasing the NCE procab setup. Being that I didn’t yet use the Powercab I called Tony and explained to him that despite doing my homework in selecting a system, I had missed a few differences in features between the two systems and the Procab was the system I should have purchased. He said no problem, just send me the Powercab and when we receive it, we will send out the Procab. This conversation and transaction occurred 3 months after I had bought the Powercab. I don’t know that other dealers would have been so understanding of my situation but Tony was. He also gave me a break on the Procab that ended up costing less then what they were selling for at the show special. To this day I have yet to see a Procab listed for less then what I paid. Tony’s Trains is an excellent vendor and would recommend them without reservation. [tup][tup]

willy6,

Seriously, why do people complain that they can’t get a reply from their email? Doesn’t anybody use the phone any more? You know, that thing that you text with, yes it’s also doubles as a phone…use it.
