I took a chance and ordered some bridge abutments from A.I.M. Products. Walthers didn’t have a photo of the product on their website, nor did A.I.M. Products on their website. The description simply stated: #718 Split Stone Bridge Abutment. Here’s what they look like:
The abutment measures 3.75" wide, 2.5" tall to the step, 3.125" to the top and 1.625" deep. the amount of detail in the stone is amazing!

Admit it, you built that abutment from little-bitty individual stones, LOL! You’re right, that’s one of the most amazing castings I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to see it when you color it and install it–talk about eye-blinking DETAIL!!

Now there’s something that has struck me stupid with fear…putting color onto this casting and ruining it! I think there will be plenty of practice on scraps of hydrocal before I get near the abutments with anything that resembles color…

Considering your estimable skills, I’ll believe THAT one when I see it, LOL! You’re gonna be just FINE! If it helps, just consider the color of your previous rock-casting work and figure that the stones came from the same general area. That’s the way that a lot of railroads constructed their abutments–from the hardest rock in the area. In your case, it would probably be the underlying granite.
Have fun. I still have to find some kind of contraption that’s going to allow me to lean over far enough to slap rubber rocks on those [banghead] Buttes of mine. At least you can hold those abutments in your hand, LOL [swg]!
