British Elections…could you guys across the Atlantic keep me posted via e-mail.

Hey capt how are you still haven’t forgot about you trying new things, and differnt products [:-^] talk to you soon

I think “bovinefecalometry” is most appropriately used in the context of news, commentary, and opinion/editorial pieces.

While I like the gender specific “testabovinefecal…” I prefer the gender neutral “bovinefecalometry” since the purveyors of the aforementioned speech can be and are of either gender.

Incidentally, I usually measure bovinefecalometry with my patented, portable, hand-held, homemade 9 volt BOVINEFECALOMETER.

Hi Joe,
As Troy said, the only use for a Heferscope would be on (or in) a politician. I won’t be much use to you over our elections, I have absolutely no time or use for Brit politcs. These views are personal you understand, our main parties are run by lieing, cheating bas***ds who promise the earth and deliver nothing, they are allowing the destruction of peoples pension rights whilst using public money to underwrite their own. They tax us to hell and back and then claim we are well off - we pay 20% basic rate tax, around 5% in national insurance (for a third rate health system & other state benefits), 17.5% Value Added Tax (just about on everything except the majority of foodstuffs), excise duty on alcohol/ tobacco/ FUEL, £120-00 per year to watch television and about the same amount to drive our cars on the road. I have to stop here because I’m getting myself into ranting mode, so excuse me if I bow out of this one because it won’t make any difference to my life whoever gets in power.
Cheers,
Kim

Kim, you have to pay a tax to watch TV ?? Don’t tell our Government, they haven’t taxed that over hear yet.

Tim

Yes Tim, we pay a television licence fee that goes to the BBC to run their business. They employ an army of people to ‘detect’ licence dodgers and drag them before the courts if they don’t pay. Of course the BBC use our money to fund ALL of their activities, World Service, digital etc which very few of us actually receive. I forgot to mention the ‘Council Tax’ where the local governing body charge each household to cover that areas activities, from schools to road cleaning to public transport upgrades etc. The only council service we use is refuse collection, we pay the council just under a £1000 per year!
Cheers,
Kim

Only a £1000 a year Kim.You lucky sod.
Not sure if we can do politics Captain. Is it banned?
Troy

Kim,

We are headed down the same road as you. on an income of 60,000 USD (that’s about 110,000LB ?) we pay about 30% in federal income tax. That of course helps to pay for the “democratization” of the MiddleEast. Then we have state income taxes ranging from 3 to 6% depending on location. Most states also have sales taxes in the range of 5% on most purchases. There are substantial taxes for gasoline (included in the price per gallon). We pay real estate taxes on our homes and apartments. Only $2000 in some areas to as much as $12,000 - $15,000 per year in other areas, depending on location and value. Let’s not forget social security (pension) taxes, about 7%. We have heavy “sin” taxes on tobacco and alcohol. There are many, many other taxes too numerous to list.

It’s been estimated that the average american works the first 6 1/2 months of the year to pay for all of the taxes levied on him, both direct and hidden.

This is a completely casual estimate and could be off 10-20% either way, but you get the idea. How does this compare to your tax burden?

Walt

I do not wi***o pollute the forum with politics and religion, hence I would ask that we have that discussion via e-mail. Just for my own person growth…

thanks

They did censure me on that word to do with born on the wrong side of the sheet yet left in those two absolutely dreadful words. obviously whover did it was pretty ignorant on just what those words mean in the rest of the English speaking world, like many Americans pretty ignorant of anything outside America, not all though some Americans have travelled and are quite aware of non american things.

For your information Mr Censor root means the same as th “F” word only much worse and fanny is the same as the “C” word; just about all round the world and you did not bother to delete them how poor. If you want an international forum you should try to think internationally.

No wondere i get fed up with this forum and give it a miss form time to time.

Ian

PS I f you think I am annoyed your right, and just about for the first time on this forum and it is a very rare thing.

Ian,

Honestly, very few of us, on both sides of the pond, has any idea which word or words you’re refering to. Which word got deleted and what does that word mean to you? Let us know so that we don’t offend you again.

Walt

Hi Walt,
Looks like we are pretty equal on giving money to the government and the rest of the world, makes me wonder how on earth we can afford trains. I suppose we had better be careful or they might start taxing forums!! Do they tax death in the states? In the UK we have an inheritance tax where the estate of the deceased is taxed before passing on to the family, the tax is charged on estates valued at more than £242000 ($464640) and this includes gifts made within 7 years prior to death! With the value of property over here millions of ordinary people now fall into this trap whereas it was designed to catch the really wealthy when introduced. I would normally put an inoffensive swear word in here now but it would probably be altered or erased. Let’s try it anyway!

Kimbrit, you bet they tax death over here. But if you are smart you put your property in a trust, also start transfering assets to kids over time, then nothing to inherit on death, and no taxes to pay. Yes with work, they can be beat. Until they change the rules.
