a layout based on the NY,MTA,Metro-North Harlem line.

this is my 1st blog,I am an avid fan for most of my life, during my youth, while a student at the Linden Hill High School,in the village of Hawthorne,NY,in Westchester County,I discovered my big love of trains, and since the school was located along the Harlem Line,I would like to model this line in HO-scale,that is when the penn-Central came from the merger of the New York Central, and Pennsylvania Railroads, then in January of 1969 the then New Haven was included in the merger, that is when I discovered the dual mode FL-9 locomotive, then painfed in somber black, and mating worms,I now have 3 FL-9’s in Ho-scale,and 1 e-8,i would like to know the curve, and other factors,I already have the Grand Central Terminal track plan for this purpose, and the other equipment for the Park Avenuen viaduct,I know it is 4 tracks wide, and at one point the tracks diverge,to the left the tracks go to the Hudson line to Albany, and straight away they go to Dover plains, and Wassiac, the end of the line, even though the line origianally went to Chatham,NY.The FL-9 was originally going to Boston, from either Grand Central Terminal,or Pennsylvania Station, along the Northeast Corridor, that is where the tracks from Penn, join the NEC,that location is New Rochelle,NY.This is the worlds greatest hobby.Thanks.

A friendly suggestion … mixing in some line breaks, capitalization and individual sentences might help people understand what you are asking. Not sure what ‘mating worms’ means.

You might try replying with just the question again to see if anyone can help (if you do have a question).

EVERYBODY knows that! It is the Penn Central Logo.

You are biting off one heck of a lot with that ambition. Modeling GCT will be a real challenge, especially since most of it is under ground and on two levels (soon to be three levels) at that!

Visit web site of LION, him builds New York City Transit Authority. Maybe some ideas you will get, yes?

Rather than model GCT itself, I’d start with modeling 125th Street, trains come from staging area and make their appearance on the viaduct, and then can go wither they will. Looks like enough activity there to keep you busy for the rest of your life.

The mating worms was the logo used by the merger of the New York Central, and Pennsylvania railroads,it is actually the letters,P and C,intertwined, that makes it look like worms, this was in 1969,when both railroads, had bad financial difficulties, and thought that a merger would solve their problems, they also included, the New Haven in the same merger, the New Haven also had bad finances, due to poor management, and spending more money then they had, also if the New Haven had not spent too much they would have had enough money to purchase more FL-9’s.Patrick B.McGinnis former had of that railroad also had problems with the boston and Maine, and his exploits landed him in federal prison. But now that Amtrak owns that line they are doing abit better, and electrofied the entire NOrth east corridor,to Boston, and also is operating the commuter service, for the MBTA,commuter lines. They are now taking delivery of new electric locomotives, from Siemens,of California, they are beautiful speedsters,.Thanks for your interest, mgm.

Actually, Amtrak does not operate the Boston commuter rail. That’s a contract that’s up for bidding right now, and if you’re following it, you see a sad tale of well-connected political friends and the companies they own. It’s, well, pretty sleazy. All the corruption of the robber-baron era, with none of the excitement and romance.

The only saving grace is that the Rockefellers and Carnegies of old would have eaten today’s thieves for lunch.
