One-legged man arrested for driving on railroadMonday, February 5, 2007
A one-legged man caught driving his car on the Illinois Central Railroad tracks in the Dyersburg Industrial Park was arrested on Sunday after the vehicle became stuck on the rails.
William Roark, 75, was charged with criminal trespassing, violation of registration and no insurance.
According to the Dyersburg Police report, Roark was found in the driver’s seat of a brown Ford Crown Victoria near the intersection of the railroad tracks with Sylvan Road. Roark told police “it was no big deal” and he rode on the tracks “all the time” looking for aluminum cans.
